I bought a generator after the first hurricane in 2004 because I didn’t want to suffer through the heat ever again! And now, when I fire off the generator at the beginning of the hurricane season (just to make sure it works because that would be a sticky situation if it did not) I cringe because I now have to pay $4.oo per gallon to fill it up. Besides the water, the food, the generator, the gas, the batteries, and everything else, as a homeowner you need to decide what to do with your house in the event you need to head to safer ground.
