Fun Stuff to Do Once You Relocate to Orlando …Other than Disney World
Once you relocate to Orlando, you might begin to wonder what are some fun things to do that don’t involve Disney or SeaWorld? Don’t get me wrong, the theme parks are great, but there are plenty of other things to do that don’t involve people dressed up in costumes. You should enjoy the perks of your new location, so here are a few ideas to help you get started.
If you are looking to do something one-on-one with nature, head down to Wekiwa Springs State Park and take a trip down the Wekiva River in a canoe or kayak. The trip takes a couple hours, but is well worth the journey and is a great way to learn about the native plants and animals of your new homes region. Once you move to Orlando you will discover that there are plenty of rivers to paddle down, so purchasing a kayak or canoe is also a fun investment for your family and home and a great way to become more familiar with the area.
If you like to be outside, but aren’t so much into wildlife there are plenty of neighboring cities that are easy to get to from your new home that have unique, historic buildings and quaint shopping centers. Winter Park is built around its historic Rollins College and has streets with plenty of shops and restaurants for you to stroll along and relax. After all your unpacking is finished, treat you family to a day trip to historic St. Augustine! St. Augustine is very similar to Winter Park, except that it houses one of the oldest forts and school houses in America. If you have recently relocated to Florida or are planning to in the future, this is a great place to learn some of Florida’s history and have fun at the same time.
There are plenty of places in Orlando for you to explore and have fun, that don’t cost a fraction of what a theme park would cost.
