Florida Must Have Info.

Published by rns under Uncategorized

Here is a great link for all of you planning on relocating to Florida. It is a compiled list of links for the State of Florida. You can find driver’s license info., employment, schools, etc.. Some changes have recently been made regarding what is needed when acquiring your Florida’s Driver’s License. Being prepared and saving time is a good thing. Also, there is some interesting information on Florida wildlife, architecture, and history.

Moving to Florida must have information.

Employ Florida Marketplace offers resume building, career counseling, and has a huge database of available positions. They are combined with Workforce Central Florida. Personally, I find the Employ Florida site easier to navigate but the Workforce site has  school/training grant information available.

Relocation Networking Solutions will work with you, helping to make your dream of relocating to Florida a reality.

Florida’s Cold Snap

Published by rns under Uncategorized

WOW! Coming off a very cold weekend here in Central Florida.  Starting Friday night until Sunday night, it has been unusually cold.  On Saturday, many parts of Central Florida even saw snow! Snow in Florida?!?! I know, its crazy. Most of Central Florida did see sleet and experience frozen water puddles and definitely cold temperatures.

Saturday was the Half marathon at Disney and Sunday was the Mickey’s Marathon.  The high on Saturday reached a chilling 48 degrees.  It has been reported that Sunday’s marathon starting temperature was a bone chilling 28 degrees. But it didn’t stop people from running in Disney’s Premier race.

The cold blast drove Florida manatees into Blue Springs State Park for a warm water temperature of 72 degrees. That temperature stays the same all year round, helping the manatees stay warm during the winter months.  Many people braved the cold temperatures on Saturday to get a glimpse of God’s Gentle Creatures at the State Park.

Now while the weekend is over, doesn’t mean the cool temperatures are gone just yet.  Central Florida will continue to see cooler temps with a slight warmup on Friday.

Moving Tip #124

Published by rns under Uncategorized

I am always scouring the internet looking for new or improved moving tips to pass along to my clients.  I came across a GREAT list on About.com and one particular tip that stood out!

Tip #124: Color coordinate your moving boxes to match the rooms they are going in. For instance, assign your son’s bedroom with a blue sticker. As you are packing up his room, you will label everything with a BLUE sticker. Then when you get to your new house, you can put a blue sticker on the door. This way when all movers are moving in boxes they will know which boxes go into which rooms!

In addition to assigning room colors, designate a wall or closet in that room for boxes or misc. items.  This will keep your movers (or you) from having to rearrange the room when you bring in the big furniture.  Plus everything can be organized much better from one pile than several other piles.

For more great tips on moving visit the About.com article. For more information on Relocating to Orlando Florida Call the experts at RNS 407.595.4474.

Florida Beach Weather

Published by rns under Uncategorized

If you have just been relocated or are thinking about relocating to Orlando,Florida, now is the perfect time of the year.  This it the time of the year when the temperatures drop below 90.

Yes you heard me right!

Its starts to cool down. Now if you are from up north, this may feel like summer to you. But its perfect. Cool breezy weather, the sound of the palm trees swaying, cooler nights.

There are some year round perks to living in the Sunshine State, and living in Orlando (where everything is centrally located) is the best part.  Here is a short list of year round activities to do:

1. Beach. The water may get too cold to swim in, but its always a nice time to take a walk (or jog) on the beach.  Many places in New Symrna and Daytona have restaurants right on the beach.

2. Fishing.  You can always find a nice fishing hole, either by canoe, kayak or fishing charter.  You can fresh water fish or salt water fish.

3. Antiquing. Mount Dora is a cute little city about 45 minutes west of Orlando and is a great place to look through Antique or specialty stores.  You can cruise the Dora Canal or even just sit outside and enjoy a nice cocktail.

4. Christmas Entertainment.  Every year at Cranes Roost park in Altamonte Springs, there is some spectacular christmas decorations.  Its fun for kids and adults.  The best part is its all outside, perfect for a nighttime stroll. (and its not too cold)

5. Park Avenue, Winter Park.  There are so many restaurants that have tables right there on the sidewalk.  Its perfect to sit down enjoy some appetizers and people watch.  Now that the weather has cooled down, you don’t have to worry about it being so hot.

So here is just my short list of awesome Orlando activities to do now that the weather has cooled down.

Change of Address Checklist

Published by rns under Uncategorized

There are many concerns going through your head as you are relocating to your new home in Orlando.  The key to moving AND keeping your sanity is getting as much done as you can before you make the big move. Changing your address is something that shouldn’t be a pain if done enough in advance. Here are some places you may want to remember to submit an address update to …

- Post Office
- Bank or Credit Union
- Insurance Company
- Investment Institution
- Credit Card Companies
- Vehicle Registration
- Clubs & Memberships
- Magazine Subscriptions
- Doctors/Dentists Office
- Don’t forget your friends and family!

You can easily change your address on-line at The United States Postal Service website and place a specific date for your change of address to go into effect. This is a great hassle free way to change your address since you don’t have to wait in any lines. As a form of checking your identification on-line, USPS requires a credit card number and charges a dollar to your account. An added bonus when changing your address on-line is that they give you up to three hundred dollars in coupons from places like Lowes, SafeTouch, and Publix that you can use for your new home. If there is a post office locally, you can always fill out a form on-site for free. They will forward your mail on a date of your choosing and give you specific forwarding periods for magazines, credit statements and other miscellaneous mail you may receive.

For companies that you may get bill statements from, you can usually fill out a form to change your address on the back of their bill statements. This is handy, but requires a second party to manually type in the address change. Now, many companies let you change your address on their website, that way you know that it is documented correctly and the processing time is immediate. Don’t forget that some companies take up to a month to process change of address forms, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time.

For all of the other issues that may come up during your move, look to RNS to help ease the stress and worries of relocating. Relocating to Orlando, Florida? What do I do first?

Published by rns under Uncategorized

For some, the thought of relocating to Orlando, Florida can be stressful as well as exciting!

There is so much to be done that it is easy to feel overwhelmed. Completing address changes, packing, cleaning, taking care of utilities, unpacking and setting up camp again can seem like an endless task, but there is hope. There are several things one can do to ensure that relocating goes over smoothly.

First and foremost, make a list. The list should be set up like a timeline, if you will. You will feel more in control knowing what has to be done and when.

Next, call a moving company if you would like to have your stuff moved professionally, or if not, they may be able to help you out with moving supplies. However, if you decide to do it yourself get prices and available dates that will coincide with your budget and timeline.

You will need to call utilities for both residences. Utilities would include, electric, water, gas, cable, and trash. When you do have a new home you will have to contact the local utility company for hook up. They will need a date and address to connect services, so be sure to have all the correct information in front of you. As for your current residence, you will need to call to set a date for disconnection.

Next, you will need to go to your local post office to do a change of address. They have a simple form for you to fill out that will ensure that your mail will be forwarded to your new residence.
After all this is accomplished and the moving day arrives, things will start falling into place. Whether you are moving yourself or having someone do it for you, you will need to be prepared for another means of living while you accomplish the actual moving. A hotel or friend is a good option. Staying with family can be helpful too. However much time you are in transit, patience is key. Don’t forget to leave your old residence as you would like to find it when you moved in, clean and ready for the next tenant.

Finally, once you get to your new residence and start unpacking and setting up camp, be sure to take a moment to just breathe. You are almost done now.
